Ford Sync Navigation/Maps (2014 Focus)

I finally got round to buying a map SD card for the 2014 Ford Focus Navigation system off eBay as the card was missing when I bought my Focus last October.
What I have noticed when driving that some roads will come up as red like how Google Maps does when there is congestion, but how is the Ford Navigation getting this info? As far as I know it is not connected to the internet. My phone is paired with the Sync system via bluetooth, is it getting some sort of internet access from this? I haven't entered any settings giving it internet access or confirmed anything to that nature.

  • It'll also tell you that it's working out the best rout taking into account travel reports.
There's gotta be some convention there. Never bothered me in mine, it's helpful.
  • Connection...not convention...buddy fone.

That's what I'm saying, some days when I go to work and look at the map screen some nearby roads will be coloured in red but on other days they are not. How is Navigation system finding out this info?
All I did was insert an SD card that contained the maps. There is no sim card connected to the internet anywhere, nor is it connecting to any wifi hotspot on my phone.
