Credit card without number on it

in Credit cards
I have elderly parents and have a problem with my mum giving her credit card details over the phone (usually to unscrupulous ‘home maintenance plan’ companies) I’ve taken the cvv number off the back (but found out this means they can still put through as an unauthorised payment!!!!) and put a sticker over the embossed number (which she then peeled off to confirm the number)
is there any card I can get that either doesn’t have the embossed number on the front or has a flat one I can vandalise so she can’t read it out.
i can’t just take her card away as she needs it for shopping etc

Virgin Atlantic card isn't embossed, I reckon you could scratch the number off it1

She could get a Curve card and scratch the number off that - it is easy. Also the CVV - this leaves the card practically blank!
Put the Curve app on your smartphone and link the card to her credit card (take her card away and give her the curve card). A bonus is that you can look at the app and see what she is spending on that card.
All this assumes she is happy with that level of control of course - it is pretty invasive but if you are both happy would definitely be solution.

Don't know about credit cards, but NatWest debit cards are flat.

As well as scratching off the CVV, try also drilling a couple of small holes in the embossed number - memorise the numbers you obliterate first, though in case of need.1

Better idea IMO if it is really that bad - take the card off her!0

Starling (and perhaps monzo, I can’t find it) allow you to disable customer not present transactions (marked as online in app) the debit card is also not embossed0
