Coventry Euro car parts - Parallel parking

Hi all, partner received a parking charge notice 29/01/2020 for a parking issue 04/01/2020, we were parked in a bay the opposite side of the railings so obviously in someone else's car park, did not see signage to say not to, also were collecting items from euro car parts and had nowhere else to park. First issue was it was out of 14 days, 2nd issue was although they obtained his details from DVLA, I know it's not much of a difference but they spelt his name wrong. Daren instead of Darren. We decided to ignore it as we didn't see signage and it's out of 14 days, stupid I know, so recieved one today dated 27/02/2020 stating that the discount period had expired and that if we do not pay £100 within 14 days it will be passed onto Gladstone Solicitors where extra charges will incur. What is the best advice now? Anything at all? Won't be going to Euro car parts anymore, won't even order for delivery off them again because they just say to pay it. Surely they should have an overflow car park or something in place. The other business was shut so it was not like we were taking up one of their spaces they would have needed, nor were we the only people who done it. Maybe they should have signage on the actual railings or in place where people can actually see?!

Similar case for this car park recently. The new forum's search function is pants, so try searching via Google - something like Parallel Euro Car Parts Coventry MSE - which should help you find it. Follow advice there, come back if there's something different. Basically you're waiting to see if they issue court proceedings, then you respond using advice in the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, second post,
they spelt his name wrong. Daren instead of Darren.
Of no consequence. Check Darren's V5C (logbook) as it's likely the spelling error is there - the root of the data the PPC uses.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Have you read the stickie/FAQs?  They explain the rules of the game you are now forced to play.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

I would send a late appeal using the template in blue text from post 1 of the NEWBIES, from the keeper. You can if you wish add a one liner that the invoice arrived too late for keeper liability to apply so they should cancel the charge to save themselves money, or contact the driver (who of course will not be named).
Use the online portal if you can, if not, send it first class from a Post Office counter and obtain a free proof of posting.

This really is nothing to do with Euro Car Parts other than their car park was too busy/full to accommodate all their customers.

Parking on someone else's private land where the driver had no business to be is one of the reasons why these scammers exist.
