Fencing quote

Options
Hi
Can anyone tell me if a quote of £490 is reasonable to replace a 48ft garden fence, consisting of 8 6' x 6' fence panels fitted to pre-existing concrete godfather posts?

    no idea what a godfather post is... assuming this is a simple swap of panels into a slotted post I'd say no.
    Cost of 24 per panel +VAT.. that's at the higher end of the market = £230

    Labour = £260

    Seems a little steep to me for lifting out 8 panels and dropping in new panels.

    Nor did I until I started l started googling fencing  :)

    A godfather post is a roughly 2ft high concrete post cemented into the ground, a wooden fence post is bolted to this, the panels are in turn fitted between the wooden posts. It's probably more labour intensive than swapping panels in slot in posts, then there's the cost of the 8 posts too, so maybe an okay price???

    Thanks for that, you learn something ever day!

    So, nine wooden posts are needed too at maybe £15 each? Who is (lawfully!) disposing of the old panels and post? Any commercial firms has to pay quite a bit to dispose of rubbish.

    Like most things it is a lot when you are paying, not so much whey you are running a business to earn a living.

    8 posts, the end of the fence is a tall brick wall.

    The quote includes removing the old fence panels, as to whether or not they LEGALLY dispose of them, I haven't the foggiest. They do seem legit though, never used them before but I've been aware of their existence for over 10 years.
