I'm getting a 4 X 5mp camera Poe with NVR system for a new home.
What type of splitter/switch do I need to connect the 4 camera Poe cables into one? So I'm not having 4 cables running downstairs, just one.
It will go into the loft so that only one cable needs to be used to go into the NVR downstairs.
Will the splitter need power?
If someone can link me to something that I can use,I've no idea what these are called.
Many thanks.

PoE is Power over Ethernet.
The PoE switch provides the power - which in your case is embedded in the NVR.
So there is no splitter option, you'll need to run all 4 cables back to the NVR.1 -
You might want to plan your layout once you have the equipment. I have a Swann network PO.E system and there are a few points to watch:
My Swann recorder has a noisy cooling fan, some recorders are quiet. If there is a fan you might want to reconsider the location.
If, like the Swann, yours has bulky RJ45 size plugs, they need a quite large hole to feed the plugs through... unless you run the cable and fit the plugs yourself afterwards.
If running cables outdoors, it needs outdoor rated cable, the supplied cable may not be suitable (degrades fairly quickly when exposed to sunlight).
Spiders are attracted to the IR lights on home cameras, fit them where you can reach with a “cobweb” brush. In warm weather you might need to clear cobwebs most days!1 -

This is what we, and a few friends do as we've got long established wired in networks, and it's far easier to put a POE switch in than run multiple additional cables all the way.1 -
Put a POE switch in the loft, connect the cameras to this, then the one wire down from switch to NVR2

Yes its a POE switch, you can get from Amazon just ensure has around 60w of power.
It has its own ac adapter that powers it.2 -

Would this be the type?

^^ Exactly that

Look for a Gigabit switch instead of FastEthernet. Even if a 5 megapixel camera works perfectly fine with a megabit switch, you might want to connect other equipment to it.2
