Insurance as a group or individually?

A holiday that I am going on with my family was all paid for by me to save hassle. It seemed easier to do it all in one booking.
However, for travel insurance, I would prefer to do this just for me and my two children (as my parents are a bit more complicated and I don't know half the answers to the questions).
If I do this and for whatever reason, the holiday is cancelled and I need to claim on the insurance, how is it done if I only have insurance for some of the party travelling?

I have discovered that I have insurance through Nationwide as I have a Flexaccount with them, so it would appear I don't need to buy any, but I suppose the question still stands for my parents.
As I made and paid for the booking, if the holiday is cancelled, will it cover all of us or just for me and my two daughters?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Your parents are not covered by your policy.

Thank you. So if I need to cancel the holiday for any reason, will I get 3/5 of the holiday price back and my parents have to claim under their own insurance?
Or should I take out a single policy for the five of us?
