The local sat / tv antenna guy, Sky won't do it.

Just get a tv antenna installed for your old box.

I had a similar problem when I moved into my present flat . I didn't want sky either .
I purchased a humax freesat box . Unfortunately , and expectedly  the previous people had sky and it was disconnected from outside. Trying to find someone to reconnect it and give me freesat was a total pita 🧻. Looking for a reputable person / company was not easy ( you'd think it would be ) . Then again I was new to the area , and googled as you do.
The freesat helpline was worse than crap and no help at all . I got ripped off by a company called aerial force 😾Avoid  them . You live and learn . I never knew about getting a sky box either . Oh ,well. All done now..
    Hope it helps .
