My elderly mother has dementia and has lost her diamond ring value £7500 and a old gold chain and pendant necklace value £3000
We think she may have thrown them out but she can't remember when she last had them  
Will her household insurance pay for a claim? - they are itemized on the policy 
Will the insurance company pay out if they know she has dementia?
Any help and advice appreciated

They are more likely to replace the items than pay for them, and if they are covered for loss will depend entirely on the policy she has. Insurers do have a duty to accommodate vulnerable customers so her dementia shouldn’t be a barrier to claiming.

Some insurers will cover it if the items are specified for cover away from the home as it offers wider cover for loss.

Just tell them all the facts, don't avoid telling them about the Dementia and see what they say, if you're not happy with what the Insurers say come back and post back here with the reason the Insurer declined the claim and the name of the Insurer so we can check the exact wording of the policy
