Charlie_1974, you will be better served creating your own thread rather than 'hijacking' another posters' thread. Otherwise either no-one will respond to you or no-one will respond to the OP and causes chaos ;-)0

Thank you everyone for your advice and reassurance. We still have a few weeks to go and the Saudi Government are assessing the situation constantly. We travel on the 29th March, so hopefully the situation will change for the better. I've heard of some people who aren't ATOL protected and they were supposed to be travelling tomorrow but have heard nothing. I feel for them. I'll keep you posted of my situation0

Fingers crossed for you Yas1320.
Don’t forget the ATOL is for financial protection should the agent or seller fail. Not for a claim in your circumstances. It is the Package and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 which apply in your case. The only reason I asked you about the ATOL certificate was so you could locate and share from this what you had booked. It is often the easiest way of locating that information.
Here is the link to the Regulation -

A good agency may try to contact their customers in advance to notify them of this new regulation from the Saudi’s. Those travelling tomorrow may sadly only hear of the problem when they try online checkin or reach the departure airport. It is all very messy at the moment. Hope your friends will appreciate that and not take it out on the airline or agency staff.

Thanks Westin. I did think the ATOL is to do with financial protection. It is indeed a very difficult situation for all. Hopefully by the time we are set to go, things will have become stable. Thanks again for all you help.Westin said:Fingers crossed for you Yas1320.
