Cost to Support Chimney Stack

Looking for some help/advice around supporting a chimney stack!
We are first time buyers in the process of buying a 1940s semi.
Our buildings survey has flagged up that a chimney breast has been removed on the ground floor but is still in situ on the first floor and loft and hasn’t been supported, there are also no building regs for this.
We have spoken to a few structural engineers who have said the only way they can assess is to remove part of the ceiling/take up floorboards which the vendor (understandably) won’t agree to.

Please could anyone offer advice around the cost of installation of a steel beam in the loft to support the chimney stacks? There are two stacks that join into one in the loft.
We would be removing the first floor chimney breasts ourselves.
Thanks in advance,

Quite a common scenario. Look around the £1000-£1500 figure for a beam install. The beam dimensions should be calculated by a Structural Engineer which might be additional cost.1
