Just wondering how it's a single payment of £800? Surely this was a contract that's been going on for months if you've been disputing the delivery? In that case have they (the phone provider) not already marked your credit file as late? Have you checked?

Now that is a good question.

OP cancelled the contract. As is the norm when you cancel a phone contract, Dixons are charging a large cancellation fee.
From the point of view of your credit record, the best thing to do is either pay the bill or get an agreement or judgement that you don't have to. If Dixons refuse to budge then go to small claims court. It's somewhat of a a case of he-said she-said, but get what evidence you can and the small claims court will make their decision. (If they rule against you, you will have to pay the charge.)
But not paying and not going through the process to dispute it will ding your credit record and could get you into serious trouble.

I'll think you'll probably find that you can't actually cancel the contract without paying the entire contract agreement off. So the £800 the OP has mentioned is likely something like an agreement of 35pcm over 24 months. There's cancellation fees and there's £800
