London Power

  • I switched to London Power from EdF back in February. So far, so good. The switch happened without a hitch. As I have a non-compatible British Gas smart meter they ask for monthly readings, and a new bill is calculated within a few hours. The bill shows if they have a cheaper tariff available and I changed to a new one in the third month. There are no penalties to change tariffs or leave. Customer service from Octopus has been excellent. Only problem for comparisons is that MSE Cheap Energy Club have not kept up to date with the latest tariffs.
  • Impossible to find exit fee for London Power tariffs. This can't be good. This fee should be on the front page of each tariff.

    From LP's FAQ
    /mylondonpower.com/help-and-faqs/categories/all/switch-to-newer-rate-plan

" None of our plans have exit fees so you can switch between them without any penalty"
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • Same with Octopus Energy and their other white labels

I joined London Power a few months back. Am on the tariff "My London Fixed Yearly Plan."
Have not seen a better tariff with no exit charges out there so i would say it is pretty competitive.
They are part of the Octopus clan.  The bills in fact have Octopus on the header.
I used to be with Octopus a couple of years ago and the service is pretty much exactly the same.
The only difference I have found is that with London Power they don't have the generous refer a friend scheme to get a bonus.

I'm not in London but it happily gives me a quotation.
Not any more !  But it wasn't competitive anyway.
    Prices vary by region.
You can't compare prices in London with any other supply region.
Judging by all his posts here, I think that it's pretty obvious he's well aware of that! I suspect he was referring to a comparison to other quotes for his region. If they weren't competitive, they aren't that likely to be competitive compared to other suppliers in other regions, but that's now irrelevant as they won't supply outside London now.
