Annual Travel Insurance Expires During Holiday

I have an annual travel insurance policy I took out last year. It expires the day after we travel out on our next holiday. I need cover for my next holiday and I normally get an annual policy therefore, should it start now before I travel, or is it okay immediately following the expiry of the current policy? If my holiday is cancelled now, an I covered by my current annual policy?

Buy the new policy to start immediately after the current one expires.
I would advise the new company that you will actually be away on the start date and see what they say about that.
It would be a nightmare to be insured with two providers in the event of cancellation.0 -
Thats a good question, I dont know the answer but I was looking at buying an annual policy the other day and it would only let me purchase a month in advance so you may not be able to get another annual policy at the moment if the holiday is more than a month away0

Speak to your current provider who should be able to provided continuous cover through renewal. Might not be the cheapest option but it will be the simplest.0

The process is likely to be simpler if you stick with the current insurer. With my insurer you can defer the start date by up to 90 days, and start immediately after the current one ends.

We were in the same suit action this year. We just rang and renewed the policy. No problem.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I have a similar question to Uncle_Cuddles. I have a holiday planned for late August and my current annual insurance policy expires in mid-August. In order to have cancellation cover for this holiday do I need to take out a new policy now or will it be sufficient to start a new annual policy to follow on from my current policy? All replies gratefully received.0

As for the OP, you can either stick with your current insurer for renewal, or you could get a new policy to start just before your holiday - you'll be paying twice for a week or so, but if it's cheaper than renewing then it'll be worth it and simpler than renewing with a new insurer during your holiday.0 -
Thanks for this thread. My annual Worldwide ends on 31 December, and I've already got a holiday booked in Mexico commencing at the end of January 2021. I'll give Nationwide a ring shortly.0
