Couple of questions about my credit file and debts.

After years of not handling my money particularly well (partly because of fluctuating earnings and partly my own mismanagement), I finally decided it was time to start getting my ship in order, now that my finances are a bit more secure. I've signed up to Totally Money as well as the MSE Credit Club to get a handle on my credit report and start putting things straight. I don't have a ton of debt; basically two old credit cards I defaulted on, both owed about £2k (so £4k total debt roughly). One is now with Lowell (who I have been paying small amounts to since 2017 or so, reducing the debt from around £2.5k to £2k) and another is now with PRA, though I have yet to begin repaying that one and need to sort that out.
I had a few quick questions I was hoping I could get some clarity on:
Firstly, regarding when these debts are removed from my credit report: It says I've been in default since Nov 2016 with one creditor and Feb 2017 with the other. Am I right in thinking these debts will be removed from my credit report 6 years from these dates of first default, even if I've missed payments to the individual creditors since then?
Secondly, in the case of Lowell, it says I've missed payments every month from around Jan 18 onwards. This is not true however; I set up a payment plan with them in 2017 and have paid regularly since, to my knowledge not missing a payment. Would I be right in thinking this is a mistake and something I should get rectified on my report?
If anybody had any knowledge about this, I'd greatly appreciate their input! I know defaults come off your credit report after 6 years, but wasn't sure if this meant from the date they began or from every missed payment. Thanks for your time!

The accounts fall off six years initial default.
However the missed payments are correct if they are less than contractual. Any payment plan is inevitably less than contractual.
Assuming its defaulted, it will all fall off after 6 years.0 -
Thanks for your reply zx81 - that makes sense regarding the continued missed payments when you put it like that, it just seemed weird that I had a long list of missed payments even though, technically, I hadn't missed any for a good while. But I see what you mean - basically anything less than full repayment is a "missed payment".
Thanks again for your help!0 -
Just had one other quick follow up question on something I'd like to get clarified (as I couldn't be sure based on the information I've been able to find):
As stated above, I'm registering as having missed a lot of payments to these accounts over the past few years (one I haven't been paying, the other I have but that confusion was cleared up above). Is it the case that, once these defaulted accounts drop off your report all the missed payments also drop off the report, or is it a case that the missed payments remain on your credit report even if the details of the account drop off 6 years after the default?
Common sense tells me it all disappears 6 years from the default but it'd be good to know for definite when it comes to planning this all out!0 -
Everything disappears with the default.1
