Evening folks ... I've a van which I've had for nearly 4 years coming up to balloon payment time I was looking to trade it in and lease a new one ... I've a 999 point score on Experians database and am squeaky clean in every aspect of my financial side yet I've been declined credit ... I'm mortgage free now and have very little outgoings ... Basically unless I can finance a new vehicle by may I'll have to stop working .. any advice . Regards mark

Unfortunately the people who are rating you 999 don't lend money.

Check your three credit files to ensure everything is as it should be, with no negatives.  If it is, then you need to increase your income/reduce any existing debts.

    Who declined you?

Have you done a comparison search to see who's likely to approve you? That way you wouldn't get hard searches yet.
  • I haven't got any debts ... No credit card debt no mortgage etc ... It was fords who declined credit and BNP paribas whom I actually have my vehicle with at the moment .. Have checked all files all 100 per cent

When you say you have checked files all 100% is that at the leading 3 major agencies?

  • Yes all three ... I've contacted them all and even they don't know why ....
  • It's been explained to me by Experian that I can't get credit because I don't have any debt .... Sounds fair ..

Don't ask them for their opinion.  That's like asking a goldfish how to fix a motorbike.

Check your data on all three files.

Might be that you don't meet their internal lending criteria. Have you tried your bank?

Sounds like you have a very thin credit file. Lenders can only see the last 6 years of your credit history on your files, so without any active credit then they don't have anything to judge you on, hence you're more likely to be declined. They definitely don't pay any attention to your score so I'd recommend ignoring that completely.

I'd recommend shopping around using comparison sites, or possibly even a broker of some description if your livelihood is at such serious risk. You might not get the best deals, but its better than nothing. Your main bank might also be a good place to check since they will likely have a better picture of your current financial state.

I have no someone who has finance on BNP and they have no debts, but nothing on their file expect a 6 year old bank account. Nothing else! They got accepted by BNP for finance. I dont believe its ford that rejected by BNP who are the finance company. If you are making payments on time to them and have a good history with them i would think they would have got your finance. DO BNP show up on your credit reports
