If you have set a new code correctly, and that code is not opening the safe, it is likely that one of the tumblers moved slightly when you were setting the code. I would try moving one tumbler at a time through all its positions, leaving the other tumblers set at the new code you think you have set.

If the lock is very low quality, you may be able to feel the lock release slightly when you move a tumbler into the correct position, so try pulling the safe open while you move the tumbler. If it does not open when you have tried moving every tumbler through all the numbers, you will need to keep experimenting with turning one tumbler one number in one direction, and trying all the other tumblers through all their positions in turn. There are only 10,000 combinations, and the chances are that the one you are looking for will be close to the code you think you have set, you it should only need you to try a fraction of the 10,000 combinations. Keep a record of the combinations you have tried - you will need to find a shorthand way of doing this.

You could try prising the keysafe off the wall, if you have fitted it to a wall yet. If you can prise it off, you need to use better fixings next time. Next time you fit a key safe, set the code before fixing it to the wall and check that you know the code.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Might be worth looking at bosnianbill and lockpickinglawyer on youtube, they both show how to use a feeler gauge to find the combination. They may also make you wonder if these products are such a good idea

I wouldn't keep a key in it 24/7 i would only use one as a drop point to pass a key to someone or to let someone in when your at work.

You didn't use 1963 did you?

Just set the code and try 1 number at a time 1 up and then 1 down to find the number that was a little bit off.
Don't put it at the door, Hide it. A Fake rock is probably safer
