Hi, just purchased a second home and need advice on whether we need a second TV licence .
1- No live TV stations to be watched on plugged in TV
2- Freeview stations except BBC and IPlayer used for Catchup
3- BBC stations and IPlayer watched on smartphone ie not plugged in and the option of
4- using Chrome-cast to cast to TV for BBC stations and IPlayer
Pretty sure items 1 2 and 3 mean no licence requirements but would using Chrome-cast be ok ???
Thanks in advance for any advice
Paul

1 & 2 are fine
3 is fine provided no charging while watching live tv or BBC iPlayer
4 is fine provided devices connected to Chrome cast are battery powered with no charging at the same time as casting.1 -

Where are you getting this information that you can watch it as long as the device is not plugged into the mains? The OP has said they have a TV licence at their main property. The TV licensing site itself suggests that you don't then need a TV licence for a second home 'if you only ever use devices powered solely by their own internal batteries – in which case your main home’s TV Licence will cover you.'
