Mortgage, credit cards and improving credit score

Hi, hopefully i've put this in the right section.
I'm closing in on having the deposit to get a mortgage and trying to improving everything i can before i do so, like reducing my debts and improving my credit score.
i'm a bit confused with the credit cards i have bewteen the utilization and available credit.
I've the credit cards with the following available credit.
Card 1 £2655 0% limit £4500
Card 2 £0 limit £10500
Card 3 £0 limit £9000
My plan was to cancel card 3, reduce card 2 limit but i'm i right in saying that then increases my over all utilization? So i'm a bit confused what is the best thing to do

  • The  most important thing is not to try to change your credit score, but instead, improve how lenders view you.

You have moderate limits and only three card, so I would keep them all, especially as you are carrying debt.

Use the empty cards regularly and clear in full.

If there are no other issues on your credit files, then you should have no concernes from a credit management viewpoint.

Thanks for the reply, I do use credit card no 2 and pay it off in full but haven't used card 3 in about a year. I thought canceling this one would show less available credit which would look better for applying for a mortgage

It will look as if only two lenders trust you and one has cancelled your card.  If you're going to change the number of cards you have, add one.

I get you, so with the limits i have on these not effect my mortgage application in anyway then?
