Having had 4 Toyota hybrids, I would not trust anyone except a Toyota dealer to service my car, especially if it is still in warranty.

They have the specialist knowledge and test equipment for their hybrid systems.

When I put my Golf GTE for a service last year, it was £170 at my local VW service centre, which was considerable cheaper the my previous petrol only golf, which I thought a bit odd.

When I rang I was asked if I had a service contract, I don’t, and was initially told I could set one up, but was then informed I could not have one on a hybrid and was given the price which was lower than the price via a service contract I had been mis quoted for a few minutes before.

Edit - just realised 1st  service is a minor one, in 2 months it will be a 2nd service which will be a lot more expensive. A service contract smooths out those differences, and overall costs will be roughly the same.

I purchase it second hand from Toyota dealership.
It was 10 months old with around 11000 on the clock.
The record show a service was done.
Next month will be 1 year since i bought it, and it will be 21000 on the clock.

was that first service done at Toyota?  do you want to save £50 ish or pay a little bit more and know your warranty will be honoured without to much hassle? Do you know you have a 5 year warranty ?
  • Search Google for HEVRA (Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Repair Alliance), apparently I'm not allowed to post links yet. I used it to find a local garage to service my electric car and I'm so glad I did.
