Is this the Motoring Forum similarly kaput..?
My new car is more like a computer with an engine so I can understand the confusion.
Stevensanne - you need to speak to whoever fitted the head gasket, & there is a specific motoring board elsewhere.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

    Petrol, diesel? What age?

"Won't start", but is it trying? Presumably it started when you brought it home? How long (time/miles/use) since the HG was changed?

Will assume petrol as it needed a head gasket. You need to go through everything methodically to make sure everything is connected up correctly.
    Crank sensor connected
    Injectors connected
Coil / plug connections in the right order.
    Cam sensors connected if fitted.
    Is the immobiliser switching off.

If it still won't fire pull the plugs and check the compression readings.
