Can one replace defective pins on bayonet-fitting light bulbs?
A spare two-pin bayonet-fitting light bulb which I bought/was given some time ago turned out to have one pin entirely missing and the other was broken off at the base. So neither pin can work. Rather than dump what should be a new bulb, I wondered if this was fixable.
Can one replace the pins and, if so, with what? They don't look like anything very specialised.....

I really wouldn't recommend trying as they have to hold the bulb against quite a strong spring in the light fitting.

I would scrap it, especially if it an old incandescent or CFL. Light bulbs aren't that expensive and it would be unlikely that you could make a safe repair.0

chuck it away. Trying to bodge it is likely to either blow a fuse or electrocute you just to save a quid or soNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

I think this would be taking money saving a bit too far. In any case I'm not actually sure what you are describing - bayonet type bulbs have internal wires soldered onto a plastic base. They don't have pins a such - just little blobs of solder. You maybe mean a GU10 type fitting, which does have pins but I don't think they're described as having 'bayonet' fitting. Anyway, same advice as others have given - just bin it (responsibly).1

Attempting a DIY repair on an electrical item isn't a good idea. You may create a fire-hazard depending what you use to hold the bulb in the socket.
Unless this is an expensive LED bulb then there is little point. You'll save money in the long run by putting in a new efficient bulb over an old bulb.
And besides, if the pins are broken off it's not really a new bulb any more. Dump it.1
