TAX reclaim

Having seen Martin's advice on a Tv Programme late last year I submitted a tax refund form to reclaim £560 that was the amount of tax paid on a PPI claim in 2015.They have responded by saying that it's too late (over4 years) how is that fair when we had not been advised by them that we could get it back. I am disgusted and as a pensioner feel very hard done by.I would be grateful for any advice.

There's nothing you can do at this point. Best advice is to try to stop being disgusted and just move on.1

It would help if you actually said which tax year this relates to.
Tax year 2014:2015 is now too old
Tax year 2015:2016 isn't too old
But most people aren't eligible to claim anything back for the 2015:2016 tax year as the 20% would have been correct.
If it is for 2015:2016 can you explain why you think you would be entitled to a refund?1
