Can Natwest /RSB be funded from external a/c?
I tried paying into mine externally as they unhelpfully block you from online after the first access until they send a card reader, and the payment bounced back.

The date cannot be changed for the standing order, only the amount. No 13th payment with HSBC
Yeah, it's annoying as I always want mine to go out on the 1st. What I have done in the past is phoned them ahead of time and asked them to open it on the 1st.

I pay into my RBS digital saver from an external account no problem. When I opened the account I set up a SO for £1 so the first month the £1 went in. I then cancelled the SO and pay by bank transfer from elsewhere on 1st of each month and always instantly shows.

The Darlington website says the regular savers require you to be local or an existing saver. If I open an easy access account with thenm (open to all) could I then open a regular saver acct, or do I already have to be a member? TIA

You can open an easy access account with the Darlington BS (open to all) and, after doing so, you can open one or more RS accounts.  I and others have done exactly that.  It takes a little time and effort but is straightforward.  And BTW, I live hundreds of miles away from Darlington.
Thanks for this. I have posted an application for the Instant Saver this morning. Have got application forms for 3 regular savers ready to send off as soon as the instant access account is opened. Rang them this morning with a couple of queries and they were good. They did try to say I had to have a telephone interview to ensure this was the right account for me. I said no, I was not doing that. She said put a note in with the application telling them not to ring me.

How long do they take to set up an account? Do you know?

Many thanks, I think I found that under 'junior isa' on a Darlington BS form google but didn't look closely enough to realise it was generic...  :)

I wasn't asked for any ID to send in. It said if I couldn't be identified electronically they may ask for additional ID

I'm surprised at them agreeing to that.

I opened the Cambridge Extra Reward RS yesterday.  Even though I have been with them for three years, they did an ID check with a soft search, and insisted on reading all the information about the society and the account as if I was a new customer.  The whole thing took about 10 minutes on a telephone appointment.

I think that "Know Your Customer" regulations mean they have to do a lot more checks than they ever would have done in the past.  And they want to avoid claims that they have mis-sold a profuct.
