You can open an easy access account with the Darlington BS (open to all) and, after doing so, you can open one or more RS accounts. I and others have done exactly that. It takes a little time and effort but is straightforward. And BTW, I live hundreds of miles away from Darlington.
How long do they take to set up an account? Do you know?0 -

Maybe I'm having a senior moment, I can't see any application form downloads: Is it phone for them?0 -

Thanks for this. I have posted an application for the Instant Saver this morning. Have got application forms for 3 regular savers ready to send off as soon as the instant access account is opened. Rang them this morning with a couple of queries and they were good. They did try to say I had to have a telephone interview to ensure this was the right account for me. I said no, I was not doing that. She said put a note in with the application telling them not to ring me.

I opened the Cambridge Extra Reward RS yesterday. Even though I have been with them for three years, they did an ID check with a soft search, and insisted on reading all the information about the society and the account as if I was a new customer. The whole thing took about 10 minutes on a telephone appointment.
I think that "Know Your Customer" regulations mean they have to do a lot more checks than they ever would have done in the past. And they want to avoid claims that they have mis-sold a profuct.
