Thanks trusted source! Linked direct to the RS on Skipton site, logged in and opened and funded immediately from existing Skipton savings account. Must be the fastest easiest account opening and funding I’ve ever done!colsten said:1 -
What is not trustworthy about a link to the Skipton website? Do you have any evidence that I have ever posted a questionable link?We also would only recommend clicking a link when you have received this from a trusted source.2 -
The direct link to the application page that @castle96 posted on pg 337 had some Facebook stuff embedded in it, which directed you to FB when it was clicked. Copy/pasting the link directly into your browser takes you directly to the Skipton application page though. It is the exact same link that @colsten posted (minus the embedded FB stuff).
But I agree, the safest way is to either get the link directly from Skipton via a trusted method, or find it yourself on their official website.3 -
Let's just put it this way: Everybody is, naturally, free to only act upon instructions but I didn't become a Money Saving Expert by not using my own initiative and waiting to be told what to do. It is not a loophole, repeat: not a loophole, to apply for an account from a provider's official website.SFindlay said:
The Skipton staff on here has already said they would prefer people to contact them so wouldn't call it bothering them!!colsten said:
It takes half a second to click on the above link and from there, you can open your account.SFindlay said:
If you're an existing member with online access log into your account and use the online chat facility, they will send you the link and you'll have it opened I a couple of minutes.Yorkshire_Pud said:
I’m a member of Skipton but don’t use FB. I would like to open the Regular Saver too. Am I excluded? Can I just phone you? Can you send me an email? 🙏
This is what we like to hear, thank you!😀 If you do have any issues or questions feel free to contact us via Social Media, we're available 8am-10pm Monday- Friday and 9am- 6pm Saturday-Sunday.Gers said:What an amazingly easy and professional service. I got the email, clicked the link and the account was opened and funded in about two minutes. And a great interest rate - thank you Skipton! You really only need to bother the Skipton staff if you think/know you are eligible but the system has turned you down.
They stated its a soft launch initially and if wanted everyone to click on a link (besides the fact clicking on a link provided by some random person on on forum really isn't the brightest thing to do any way as many cloned sites out there!!) then they would have just launched the product on their website!!
Why is it so difficult for people to follow instructions and just do as provider requests?? This is why institutions are clamping down on loopholes and closing multiple accounts etc because certain people on this and similar forums always think they know best!!
I would like to add that I much appreciate when official company reps are at hand to resolve any issues that people might encounter.7 -
One question for the Skipton rep please.
The terms for the RS state that although withdrawals mid term are not allowed, the account can be closed early and all funds withdrawn.
In such an instance would interest at 3.5% still be paid up to the date of closure or would interest be forfeit or reduced. The terms around this are not there in the terms!0 -
I think it is a good idea to re-iterate that one should only click/follow the links which come from a trusted source. There is no implication that the link you or anyone else posted is not trustworthy. But if I were an official representative of a financial institution, I wouldn't hesitate repeating this over and over again.colsten said:

That may be the black cat thing - if it ain't there it don't apply! ie full interest to closure. But as we have an official source online, it's sensible to await confirmation.Yorkshire_Pud said:One question for the Skipton rep please.

Hi there, apologies if this was not clarified on the website. Interest is calculated daily and should you close the account early interest would be paid up until the date of closure.Yorkshire_Pud said:One question for the Skipton rep please.

Thanks! Sounds like the perfect customer friendly account for a change compared to most other providers.

My account is opened now, can I ask a quick question. If I fund it with £250 today by bank transfer do I then set up a regular monthly standing order to go out on the 1st of September and monthly thereafter?
Thanks0
