Applied for Mon BS RS 25.8.24, received their letter today - Not bad, Mons BS, I thought, particularly given the bank holiday in England (and Wales?); unfortunately, Royal Mail decided to 'intervene', as said letter was open, with the bottoms of all 3 pages ripped off (and nowhere to be seen), with the covering letter also having a clear shoe/boot print on it (the envelope, other than being open, is undamaged)!

Phoned Mon BS, but it seems they are now closed till Monday? Presumably, the new account will have to be closed, and I'll have to reapply...

Any other privacy/security issues I should consider in light of 'events'?

Progressive BS Interest Rate Reductions From 2nd September:

Various rates will be decreasing, of note is that there is no change to the interest rate on their Online Regular Rainy Day Saver at 7%, thus this account will be remaining at 7% for now.

Is there a list of their changes, cant see it on the site?
The double access cash ISA is still showing 5.05% which is the one i'd be interested in atm
Not that I've seen. I was one of those who opened the 7% RS before it became available to all UK residents so had to open a Branch Instant Access Saver first. I got a letter saying the branch instant saver was reducing from 3% to 2.75% on 2/9/24.

I gave Progressive BS a ring and they told me they were reducing many of their savings rates but checked and confirmed the 7% regular saver wasn't included in this so would remain at 7% for now. I never asked about any of the other accounts as I was just about to start eating my tea when I opened the letter and don't hold the 5.05% ISA so it wasn't at the forefront of my mind.
You prioritised eating over checking regular savings accounts' interest rates?

    Lightweight.
I know, it's not up to my usual standards is it?

In my defence I've a slight cold at the moment, which has decimated my voice somewhat, consequently I took the rare decision to keep my telephone interactions with the banks/building societies to a minimum till the cold's eased off a bit.

I have since sent them a message online asking them whether their other regular savers and the 5.05% ISA is going to be affected, but I doubt I'll hear back from them till after the bank holiday to be fair.

Just wondering if you've had any reply from Progressive re the 5.05% ISA?
It will be a leading rate soon now Trading 212 are cutting theirs.
    Hope you're feeling better now
Apologies for the late reply, this is the first time I've even looked at the forum since Sunday, that ``slight cold" turned out to be the early rumblings of the flu, which completely flawed me for the first half of this week. I'm now over the worst of it though and am feeling much better now thanks.

I've not heard back from Progressive BS yet, I forgot to phone them this evening to enquire to be honest as I was too busy organising my spreadsheet with regards to which regular savers need feeding at the start of September (as well as making a couple of end of the month regular saver deposits). Given the rate cut to their Branch Instant Access Account comes into effect on Monday I'd imagine we'll see a full list of decreases published soon, if nothing appears on their website by teatime on Monday I'll telephone them then.

I've just had a letter from Monmouthshire to say the rate on my Regular Saver is reducing from 7% to 6.75% on 30 September.

The account matured to an Easy Saver yesterday!
I received 4 separate letters from Mon BS today. One was to say one of my reg savers was maturing on 3rd September. 2 letters saying my 8% & 7% Reg savers were reducing by 0.25% on 30th September, even though both will be matured by then  One was confirmation of the new reg saver that I recently applied for.
    Same here.

Paperwork received confirming reduction on the 17/9 from 6.1% to 4.25 and then 4%.

They've waived the 90 day penalty if you've made 2 free withdrawals already if you transfer to any of their other products within 14 days.

I haven't looked at the other products yet and not explored if this means you can transfer a little of the your Kick Start funds as I haven't used any of two my penalty free withdrawals yet.

They can’t do that - it’s fixed for the first 12 months isn’t it?

Unless perhaps you opened it on 17/09/2023 - I only got it in December but normally open as soon as things release

Mon BS RS, As long as you don't go over your £500 a month limit, can you pay in multiple times during the month?
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.
