Registering transfer of freehold with land registery

Hi All
We are in the process of purchasing the freehold on our house. Once the purchase is complete we will need to register the changes in ownership with the land registry. The current owners solicitor has offered to do this for us for £40 (land registry) plus £50 plus vat (fees). Is this a simple process that I could do myself? has anyone tried doing this themselves. Just wondering if I could save myself £100 or whether it just wasn't worth the hassle and I should just pay the money.

You won't save £100. You'll still have to pay the LR fee! What is the value of the transaction?I'm surprised they are quoting £40 though. Depending on the transaction value, it is £20 if done electronically (by a solicior) and £40 if done manually (paper) as a standard fee.To DIY, complete and submitAP1, TR1, ID1
