Had PPI but bank won't pay

Hi. My bank wrote back to me to tell me that I did have PPI for 4 years. However they said that I am not due a refund as they say that I was not mis-sold. How do I prove that I didn't know I had the policy. I can't remember details as it was on an account from 18 years ago. I don't know to do. I disagree with the bank but dont have any proof. Has anyone else been told this? What did you do?

How do I prove that I didn't know I had the policy.
You cannot.   That is something unproveable.   It is also why most complaints using that reason fail on that particular point (they may succeed on other points).

I can't remember details as it was on an account from 18 years ago.
And that is another reason why that reason rarely succeeds.   You cannot remember.  So, in reality, you may have known about it at the time.

Has anyone else been told this?
Pretty much everyone who used that complaint reason and didnt have another failure reason or auto-payout.

    What did you do?
If that is your only complaint reason then rejection is to be expected.  It is one of the weakest reasons going.  Have you got anything a bit better than that?
