Investment on lump sum

If prices are down then it’s a good time to put money in. Better than waiting for it to recover and buying at a higher price. Mind you, it could go lower in the near future. But that’s the nature of investing. I’m in a similar situation as you with a lump sum. I’ve put it in an instant savings account and am just watching the stockmarket with a view to adding more to Vanguard when prices have dropped a little more.missymouse said:Mind you, the stock market is slightly shaky at the momentI have various funds with HL, Wealthify, and Vanguard. I’ve had Vanguard the longest. It’s the cheapest one to maintain and has grown at the highest rate. Out of the 3 I feel more confident with them and would feel more so than a relative newcomer like Nutmeg.2 -
I’m not very savvy with investing so that is why the Nutmeg seemed a good idea at the time as this website was offering extra enticements. I have to chose my own funds with Vanguard I believe?
which instant account did you use BTW?0 -
Are you still saying it’s a good idea to put more money into Nutmeg before the end of the financial year. There are no decent rates on savings as we know.
Thanks0 -
Nutmeg is your choice. So, only you can decide that. However, nothing has happened that should make the decision to invest be delayed for any reason.missymouse said:Are you still saying it’s a good idea to put more money into Nutmeg before the end of the financial year. The stock market has crashed in the last fortnight obviously
so it makes me very nervous. I wonder if it’s better to leave my cash in a rubbish interest account till after April then look at a new S&S ISA for 2020/21 and not worry about my full 20K allowance 0
