Cost of replacing bushings?

Options
Hi, I own a 56 reg Polo which my previous mechanic told me needs the bushings replacing as the joints are creaking over rough ground, bumps etc. I’ve decided to use a more local independent mechanic for the job, but there seems to be a vast range on costs. I gather it would probably be cheaper to replace the arm, especially given the age of my car, but some idea on labour costs would be great. I’m struggling with bills atm, but want to get this done, I use my car for work and I drive around all day. TIA

We don't know where you live and what equipment the garage you use have or
even which bushing you require to be replaced.

Swapping an arm = more costly to buy but a lot faster to remove the old part and fit the
new part, does not require hydraulic presses etc.

Been there and done that, spent ages swapping out a balljoint, took 3 times longer to remove
that than it did to remove the arm. I did a price check after and it was less than £5 more for the
    complete arm.

Cost them over £40 extra labour to save £5 on a new part.

Hi, thanks for that. I am in West Sussex (the cheap part) and have taken my car into a local and recommended garage. After having a good look underneath and taking it for a test drive, the general opinion was that it's safe for a while yet. It's the rear bushings that are worn, very common on a Polo so I am told.

Front lower arm, front or rear bush?
arm only comes with the front bush.
the rear bush is press in.
rear bush arm needs to be removed and bush needs to be smacked out and new ones smacked in. You can remove the bush carrier but that’s remove anti roll bar bush cap and steering rack bolts.

    im talking about this arm
