Hi,
Today at a crossing there were 2 cars behind me, I was waiting to drive straight on but there were cars coming either side. Whilst waiting for the cars to pass so I could drive on the car behind me suddenly smashed into the back of me with quite some force which left a crack in the back of my car. I felt a jolt through my back and through to my chest. I pulled over to the left and thankfully the driver at fault pulled up behind me and we swapped details. I was happy to find there was not too much damage to my car considering how hard the impact was. As I know even when you're not at fault your insurance premiums go up I really dont know wether to contact my insurance plus I have no legal cover etc included in my insurance but the other driver did admit fault at the scene. How ever I am laying in bed now and can feel shooting pains in the lower back of my head and still have a niggle in my mind back. Is it worth me going through the hassle of insurance and having premiums go up. It infuriates me that this is even a question as a driver not at fault but the way insurance works is not fair at all... any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

You need to go and see a doctor as soon as you can. And contact your insurance company first thing in the morning. It's daft to worry about the possible effect on premiums when there's a slim chance - but still a chance - that you have injuries that may involve medical care, time off work, physio, etc. What's the point of paying for insurance if you don't use it when you really need it? And you may really need it.0

Your insurance may not go up that much, if at all.
Mine, at fault accident, no third party involved, had no effect on my premium, in fact I still got a cheaper quote than the previous year, at renewal time.
If it was a serious jolt, like you say, there may be more damage than the bit of cosmetic you can see and with the possibility of medical issues you could be well out of pocket not involving your insurance (much more than any potential increase in premiums).0 -
I'm also worried because my insurance provider says I have to contact them within 24hrs or a claim may be invalid the accident happened at around 12 and they closed at 5 & dont reopen untill Monday just worried this may cause a problem and my ncb is not protected it doesnt specify if it would e protected if not at fault...0

Who's your insurer? Check your paperwork as you may find they have a 24hr claims line.KellyMariexx said:I'm also worried because my insurance provider says I have to contact them within 24hrs or a claim may be invalid the accident happened at around 12 and they closed at 5 & dont reopen untill Monday just worried this may cause a problem and my ncb is not protected it doesnt specify if it would e protected if not at fault...0
