Used Car with PCP finance advice - Salesman damaged interior

Hi,
Went to test drive a used low mileage 2017 Insignia last weekend and loved the car, however when we were in the car i noticed a long scratch running vertically up the dashboard leading to the dealers number plate (which provides temp cover for the car whilst test driving on the road), the salesman had just placed there in the window screen.
When we got back i got side tracked with the finance discussions and also signing the car order form, the car order form was a single sheet of paper with no conditions, later the salesman came back with a dealer glossy folder with a copy of the car order form but conditions were also stapled to the rear.
When i got home i remembered about the scratch, so immediately emailed the salesman that evening and stated i had noticed a vertical scratch leading up to the window screen that looked to have been caused by the temp number plate he had placed in the window and asked that he rectified this scratch before i collected the vehicle in a few weeks time.
On the following Monday i received a call from the salesman that he had got one of their technicians to have a look at it and he said that he had made it look better but was still visible and that he was now struggling to get it fixed by someone, he also said 'well i can't say for sure it was caused by the number plate as it has no sharp edges and the car is used after all' and would i like some fuel putting in it as compensation, i told him i wanted it repairing, so he said he would continue trying.
That evening i went online looking for interior car repairers to help him out and found out his company did the type of repairs we were after, along with some other nearby repairers that would also come out to it and put the links into an email and sent them to the salesman stating his own company provided repairs and that it was important to resolve this damage before i collected the car and to let me know how he got on.
I have not heard anything all week and i'm now worried i'm being fobbed off and now thinking of cancelling and going elsewhere but i have signed a car order and paid a £400 deposit last week.
Please can someone advise me with this situation as i cannot afford to loose that much money used for a deposit

Frankly? You either want the car or you don't. If a scratch is enough to make you consider cancelling, I think you don't. So cancel and ask for your deposit back. You may have to forgo some of it to cover genuine costs they've incurred.4

Do you want to buy the car with the scratch? Or don't you? It's that simple.
It's a 3yo Insig. It's not exactly a rarity. It's not your car he's scratched - it's his.0
