PPI Tax Reclaim

I applied for a tax refund on the £600+ tax on a PPI claim & HMRC has said nothing is due, why would that be? Tax paid on earnings all correct, no other savings interest so should I not be due something??

Because your tax situation  is such that you are not entitled to a refund, perhaps?

If you've filled in the R40 form correctly then,  if HMRC say no refund is due, it's obviously  not due.

You can ask HMRC to explain in detail why you are not entitled to a refund..

Can you tell us what you entered on the R40 and which tax year it was for?

If it was 2015:16 then it may well be correct that no refund is due.

If it was 2016:17, 2017:18 or 2018:19 then you may have made a mistake completing the R40?
