I applied for a tax refund on the £600+ tax on a PPI claim & HMRC has said nothing is due, why would that be? Tax paid on earnings all correct, no other savings interest so should I not be due something??

Can you tell us what you entered on the R40 and which tax year it was for?
If it was 2015:16 then it may well be correct that no refund is due.
If it was 2016:17, 2017:18 or 2018:19 then you may have made a mistake completing the R40?0
