P&O delays not transparent when booking

So we cancelled our hotel a euro tunnel booking (with no refund) and booked a ferry crossing to get home early at 14.54. What we didn’t know was that p&o had posted updated info on twitter showing delays for all the afternoon sailings of 4 hour delays at 14.52. I don’t use Twitter, so I was unaware. I do understand bad weather, what I dont understand is why it wasn’t flagged up on their booking page. We arrived on time. Now sitting waiting. We have a £6 voucher we can’t use. We can purchase drinks from a vending machine. I paid £130 for my travel (standard car and 3pax). Premium for late booking.
i feel deceived. I have sent a complaint. Any advice . An updated Twitter said we should travel in 4minutes. Not so. We can not travel home (4hour journey) what ever time we arrive in Dover as we have been awake since 6am. No information has been passed on. Not even a bottle of water.

Wait and see what response you get and take it from there.0

I thought that most (all?) ferry companies send travel updates / changes by text to your mobile. Brittany Ferries certainly do. Do P&O have your mobile number?0

If you booked online, only the scheduled time would show, you cannot really complain about that, there was no deception.
As for the delay, they may offer some compensation.

Frustrating yes, but as my Dad used to say ‘worse things happen at sea’.
Timings between their social media post and you booking were minutes apart. When you think about it it makes sense to perhaps update their social media first, plus push warnings to existing bookings before updating (if indeed they do) the booking platform. I expect few book so near to departure.
Perhaps expect an apology. No sure what else you want or expect.0
