Furnishings : taken as seen

Hello! When i viewed property before renting there was big king size bed in a bedroom, wardrobe, chest of drawers, and book shelves in living room. We agreed that i taking property as it is and in email from my agent says 'furnishings: taken as seen'. Now today was actually day when i could move in and how suprising jt was as landlord took bed, shelves and drawers!! I don't feel like it's fair. I order stuff mysefl now as obviously i need it but can i claim some money back for it? Is it fair?

  • No not fair, but you should not have ordered new furniture - that's down to you.
You chould have contacted the landlord or his agent and requested either that
    *the items be returned,or
*the LL's agreement for you to replace them at his cost, or
    * for him to purchase replacement items for you.
Wee you given an inventory? What does it show?Have you agreed/signed it?

Sounds like a great start to the tenancy. No inventory? Deposit scheme?
