Car and insurance for learner driver
Hi
My daughter is having driving lessons. She is at the point when it would be worth taking her out between lessons for practice. Unfortunately my car is an automatic and she is learning in a manual.
So I am going to buy a little car for her to learn in and have when she passes. Should I put car and insurance in my name for now whilst she needs learner insurance and then transfer it to her when she passes? Or is it better to put any of it in her name now (if that is even an option?)
Thanks

She cant have her own until she passes anyway. But be prepared for a shock, probably be a couple of grand.
Best to keep her on your insurance in terms of cost.0 -

Get your facts right instead of posting misleading information, as a past driving instructor I taught some pupils in the their own car and some even took the test in it, there is nothing to stop a learner owning and insuring their own car.

When my niece was learning to drive, she bought her own car and had her own insurance with a company called Collingwood insurance and I'm sure that there are many similar companies offering to insure learner drivers who own their own vehicles.2
