Switching to EON energy with joint names

Hi,
I am switching to EON energy. For identification purposes and in the event anything untoward was to happen to me, I would like to hold the account in joint names and have my wife name reflected on my energy bills as well. Initial discussion with eon suggest that they are not doing this as per industry practice but I have checked with Scottish power and British Gas , both of them do have joint account holder name referring on bills.
Does anyone have any idea if eon can somehow add two names to bill or should I just cancel the switch , but that would leave a mark on my credit file as they have already made credit check on equifax.

Just put it your wife's name  - that solved a problem that my wife had when she needed ID

Eon does not allow you to have an account in joint names, so you may want to rethink your choice of supplier if that is a key requirement.  It sounds like you have identified British Gas or Scottish Power who can assist you with your rtequirement.

But, to be fair, I think paying your energy bill will be the least of your wiffe's issues if you were to drop dead, so if that is a possibility or just a worry of yours, I suggest you take action now to allow your wife to take control should you not be in a position to handle your any of your affairs.

Finally, as long as the bill is paid, the energy supplier won't really care where the money has come from. (but the supplier should be informed in the event of the death of an account holder. Eon have a specialist team that handle bereavements - not sure what BG or SP have available in this regard)

Since the majority of suppliers won't allow joint names, my "insurance" is a "in case I drop dead" document detailing suppliers, login details and payment details for everything related to the home. Once you start writing it you realise how many companies you deal with!

Similar to Talldave - I have a spreadsheet giving actions to be taken in the event of my death and what the effect will be on her income..  it lists saving accounts, investments etc but   I'd actually forgotten about utilities.

Whoops! me too!  At this rate the instructions to my son are going to be longer than a Tom Clancy novel!
