Breakdown Autoaid vs RAC

So yesterday we broke down in my wife's car. She is covered with RAC so called  them but they would not take the car more than 10miles to a garage , we were 22 miles from home with 2 young ones as well. She also said the RAC representative wasn't very empathic with our situation,  I called Autoaid (bought due to MSE recommendation) .  1st time I have ever used it and they were so good. They arranged the pickup and delivery of the car to a garage , kept us updated and the truck driver was so nice. Autoaid called back to make sure the pickup truck had arrived at the allotted time. All very good , and for only £59 .  5* service. Needless to say RAC which was twice the price has been cancelled. Well done MSE for the recommendation and well done Autoaid for the no hassle service.

  • Swings and roundabouts. I've had very good service from the RAC who have gone the extra mile to fix my car. Autoaid are OK but basically just pick up the car and take you somewhere without any attempt at repair.
  • You can’t compare Rac and AA are breakdown specialist auto aid is towing only and also with Rac they have vans equipped with tools and parts and depending  on the level of cover with Rac you get a hire car for 3 days if they can’t fix the vehicle and plus no Labour costs.

    Not really a comparison though.

The 10 mile limit is not the £100+ package though. Sounds like the package my daughter got
for £7 with her car insurance.  If you had a better package it would have taken you anywhere
    you wished to goto.

The couple of times I have used the RAC they were excellent, They took me where I needed to
goto except the time they fixed the car very quickly, a hose popped off.

Left them last year though because of the price.  Accidently pay the full price and they want to
fleece you forever. Dont pay full price and keep an eye on the renewal dates, no matter who you use.

With Greenflag now, same price as I was paying the RAC previously, but no haggling.
