Hi im new on here my first post i have just taken over appointee for my disabled brother who i have found out his SDP wasnt being paid to him i have been in touch with DWP etc they realise now its their error and will start it up again asap. But this goes back to at least 2006 which they are looking into how it happened and pay backdating. Has anyone else had this problem as this is an awful lot if money owing to my brother he is independent living but he is under a care system to help with his care he needs Look Ahead... ive now taken over all things money related due to a bank scam last year plus his money wasnt used wisely in his interest and he knows nothing about money at all so im hoping he will get it backdated i just wondered if anyone else has had this SDP stopped Any advice please!

If it is clear that he was entitled throughout this period I think he should get the full arrears of the SDP paid.
there's an old thread on this subject here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5780578/is-severe-disability-premium-time-limited-claming-approx-12-years-backdate
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
