O/S Daily Saturday 22 February 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH watching catchup tv with a cuppa, I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. Both boys still in their pits.
Getting light, but blustery here this morning, it's forecast all day and into tomorrow, although dry underfoot at the moment.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken with chips/beans/salad, I had fishcakes and salad. Tonight will be something quick and easy.
This morning I'll be heading into town to visit the building society and to get a newspaper.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. More rain forecast for today and the gusty wind has been back with us all night, doing its best to keep me awake.
After a week of feeling grim and very sorry for myself I think, this morning, I feel back to normal (well normal for me that is) so I had better do a bit of cleaning. The house looks like a tip so needs must. I haven't felt up to doing any shopping either and stocks of fresh stuff are looking low so need to do a quick trip to the sm later for a bit of a top up shop.
So that's my exciting day planned. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and sad amongst us. Take care one and all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning
Wind is blowing again - no rain as yet. OH and myself will venture out for a few hours later on.
Had a lovely time with my DD yesterday, she treated me to breakfast at Wetherspoons
Have a good day everyone

Morning everyone and thanks for starting the thread nmlc.
It is cold with a strong wind which woke me shortly after 3 so I'm feeling a bit tired and jaded. I'm working this afternoon and although I'm not looking forward to going out, it is quite a nice piece of work. OH wants me to pop into the nearby l*dl on the way back, he wants some mussels.
I've fed the birds, two robins and a blackbird have come to feed and unusually, no squirrels so far. Coaltits are on the suet feeder and I have just spotted a bluetit.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -

Good morning all 👋
Im glad you're better better TA, no overdoing things now!
I'm heading for the Saturday shopping shortly. The weather forecast for Glasgow is dire, mind you it's even worse for where I really live so perhaps I'm better off here. 🐟DM's friend will be here this afternoon so I need to prepare the afternoon tray. I'm going out this evening 🎉🎉 for a change. Friends from home are in their Glasgow flat for the weekend and having a wee soirée to celebrate the husband's birthday, they've invited me for a glass of gin and conviviality. I'll take a taxi each way.I hope that everyone is safe, dry and warm this weekend and that the poorlies are getting better.Happy Saturday to all.14 -
Morning All
Wet and windy here again, will this ever stop? Lots of flooding locally, I would imagine my cellar is flooded but I'm not going out to look!
Bedding was washed last night, another load to do when I've had a shower. I need to go out for supplies in a while then going into Glasgow to a fancy restaurant to celebrate a friends 60th, should be good. I'll probably take the train to save the stress of driving in the driving rain.
Work yesterday was busy, lots to catch up on after I'd been off. At least the day passed quickly and I called to see baby Sophie on my way home which was a bonus.
Enjoy your evening Gers.
Glad you're feeling better TA.
Anyone heard from tru?
Have a good Saturday, take care. XX12 -
Morning all
Dry but blustery here will get dd to put her washing on when she comes down and we can get it out to dry for a while, the pump has arrived for the TD so OH is going to try and fix it later its not easy getting clothes dry without it as we are not supposed to hang washing on the rads due to it causing damp, its cleared up since we had the log burner but I dont want it back !
One of us will need to shop today and my mum wants a lift we will also do the housework between us.
Not sure what is for dinner tonight we normally try to have a 'nice' dinner on a saturday so will get my books out and have a look.
Before I had my MRI I had to have my coil removed which I had put in for my painful and heavy periods, they wont do an MRI with it in, I had it removed about three weeks ago and now I have the heaviest period ever (sorry if TMI) I have not had one for over ten years and I must say its horrible and I feel uncomfortable and sore, I am not sure I will have another put in I am already fed up with people poking and prodding at me and Ive not even had the op yet!!
TA glad you feel better x
Camelot and Gers enjjoy your evenings xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Just had a phone call from youngest son to say the 2 year old has chicken pox. We were due a family meet up with other son etc. but I think we will have to plan something different as I don't want to risk any infections on top of my illness. Have made lentil soup and cheese scones for when my eldest son arrives and then will make plans! Actually sunny here at the moment but very windy, maybe a trip to the dump will be the high spot of the day.13

Morning everyone, thanks NMLC. Glad you are feeling better TA. ANCIENTOFDAYS, sounds like the perfect way to start the day. I must refill my feeders, the wind has rocked all the seeds onto the floor which is fine for some birds but not for others.
It's a choppy old morning here but I was up early taking our friend back home setting up a clock for him that we had got him for Christmas. It's a chiming pendulum 31 day wall clock. He loves anything retro and I would say this was from the late 60s/70s. He has Aspergers and is very old style. Sadly the internal walls in his flat are not suitable to hang this on and so he has a freestanding clock. When I bid for it on eBay I didn't really think about that...which is a bit odd as I am usually quite practical. Any way he absolutely loves it and is ticking away merrily showing him the date and time.
Already done my Headspace meditation, fed and watered kitty cats, one has now commandeered my lap and is purring away to her hearts content. Waiting for OH to surface, he was due in from work around midnight. He is off this weekend but no plans as such. He was hoping for a game of golf but that will depend if the course is still waterlogged. There will be lots of catch up tv I know that. I think we have 3 episodes of Endeavour, 2 of Pale Horse and several Silent Witness and various other bits and bats.
I have a few bits and pieces to sort out from my kitchen shelves, some going back up,some family pieces that I think I will pass to nieces and nephews as we have no children of our own and then some probably to the CH. Anyone else find as they get older they don't want so much clutter about. I hate getting shot of stuff because I see a memory in everything but the urge to purge is getting stronger every year.
Well I'm rambling now as I am confined to this spot because of the furry thing.
Hugs to all those that need them, stay safe and have a good weekend.......really would like a cuppa but don't want to move her!!

Morning, sunshine here shining on the ceiling from the skylight although it's blustery windy out there today. Lovely surprise yesterday as DD1 had stayed late to see me with the baby after I finished work in the afternoon, made me really happy. We can get out of the village today as the roads around are now passable again so we're off for a trip (where to as yet undecided) for a change of scenery having been unable to for the past week or so. I don't have to cook (other than some pasta) as we have some Bolognese sauce left from yesterday so I shall make a pasta bake to have with a salad and have a 'cooks day off'.
Have a good day everyone xxx.
