I NEED YOUR HELP! My partner is self employed and we are looking to take out a private pension we just want something that works simply like my works pension pay a set amount each month and get a return come pension age without having to make investments ourselves or fo anything really I briefly looked into a stakeholder pension but am confused with who to go with etc do they all charge an annual fee? Of yes Is a set fee or percentage better? Does anyone have a private pension provider they recommend? Should he transfer his 7 year pension into a private pension?

Stakeholder pensions were introduced in 2001 and were instrumental in lowering charges. However, today, personal pensions and SIPPs and master trust pension schemes are cheaper and better and stakeholder pensions have become a niche option.
do they all charge an annual fee?
Yes.
Of yes Is a set fee or percentage better?
Depends on the amount you are investing.
Should he transfer his 7 year pension into a private pension?
That would require an analysis of the existing pension against the alternatives to see what is best. As we cant do that, we cannot answer your question.
My partner is self employed
Is he self employed or is he a director of a limited company? (it makes a difference)
