Credit file mix up

Options
Good evening, I have joined this forum, as I am unsure what my next course of action should be. I was hoping a few fresh pairs of eyes make help me with my next course of action.
Back ground.
My father in law (Brian senior born 1950 ) recently wished to purchase a caravan, he made an application via the telephone to his bank of 50 years. The loan was declined.
He has ample disposable income, and has been at his present address for 50 plus years. Past and present as never missed or been late with his payments. The bank have approved loan applications in the past with no problems.
The bank recommended that he should obtain a copy of his credit report via Experian, Due to his age and lack of computer knowledge, he asked me for advice. I viewed his credit report and in fact there was a CCJ dated 13/05/2019. On further investigation it belonged to his son, who is named Brian D (Brian Junior born 1980), on contacting Experian 15th January 2020 they explained that CCJ’s do not contain dates of birth, we then provided the required documentation and it was removed.
Bingo - I checked his Experian file his credit score was now 996 in the excellent rating, he was overjoyed, and made another loan application, this was also declined.
At this point I decided to obtain a full credit report via check my file.com. This showed Experian, Equifax, Transunion and Crediva.  This report showed a multitude of credit file connections.
Brian juniors address has been linked to Brian senior on Equifax, but no CCJ record was present. So we requested these to be unlinked and are still awaiting a response.in the mean time Equifax have registered a NOTICE OF DISPUTE - THE INDIVIDUAL CONCERNED HAS DISPUTED THE ACCURACY OF THE INFORMATION REGISTERED AT THIS ADDRESS AND WE HAVE NOW CONTACTED THE SUBSCRIBER CONCERNED. CARE SHOULD THEREFORE BE TAKEN WHEN USING THE DATA AT THIS ADDRESS TO ASSESS THE CREDITWORTHINESS.
On Crediva the CCJ was listed, which again we have manage to have removed.
Experian as no bad credit history.
Transunion - nothing listed.
After receiving notification from Checkmyfile.com that the CCJ had been removed by Crediva, I checked his credit rating this was now 849 and in the very good brackets.
So again he reapplied at his bank, and again was declined. He wondered if it was because he had applied so soon to the same provider so he also applied to another company and again was declined.
In the meantime he as been receiving letters address to B Lawn, he as opened these letters to find out that they are in fact for his son. He has requested that his son no longer gives his address out as his residence address, but unfortunately to date they are still receiving post.
Hope you can help with the following questions.
How does he legally stop all post to his address and future credit application regarding his son ? the relationship as now broken down and Brian junior is continuing to provide Brian seniors address as is home address for new bank accounts etc. he won’t provide provide his actual new address due to his new partner claiming benefits for being single.
Why can’t he obtain credit with such high credit scores ?
All this as had such an affect on him, and he doesn’t know which way to turn.
any help would be appreciated.

  • He can't stop his address being used. He should return everything as not known at this address.

Credit scores don't play any part in lending decisions in the UK. He needs to carefully check the data on all three of his files and take a view as to what may be causing concern. It may be affordability, existing available credit, lack of history, ER, or simply not being in a lender's target market.

An eligibility checker would be a wise use of his time before reapplying.

I would contact the relevant authorities to report the "single" partner for defrauding them about their living arrangements.
