Lloyds Tsb monthly account charges.

Options
Hi, Sorry if i am barking up the wrong tree here but i have been with Lloyds Tsb since i left school at 15 and i am 65 years old this year. They have been charging me a monthly account fee for many years on different named accounts, Platinum and Select being two of the later ones. I think platinum was about £17 per month and select is about £11 per month. Are these the account charges that people are now claiming back from the banks ?     Regards, Neil.

Lloyds TSB didnt exist 50 years ago and doesnt exist today.

Some people have been making missale allegations on these.   However, there is not actually anything wrong with packaged bank accounts.   So, no product failing.  But some bank staff sold them to people they shouldnt have done.   So, some people have successfully reclaimed the charges after complaining but most fail nowadays.  Mainly through timebars which mean you have to complain within a certain period and you have to have grounds for complaint (eligibility and suitability etc).

Do you think you have been missold?  And if so, why?
  • Thanks for your reply but no need to split hairs, of course i know it was just TSB when i joined !  And the bank i actually joined at is now Lloyds. But what does that matter.  I dont  intend to claim, just wanted to know the facts. And you have explained them, so thanks again.

If you had any benefits with the account that were duplicated, such as mobile phone insurance, you already had breakdown cover etc, make a complaint [if you want to]. It sounds odd, but a lot of people who have banked with a company for a long time start feeling a sense of loyalty to them, without realising, yes, they are charging me to hold my own money when I could have had a free account....which did the same thing.
