Co-Op no longer paying FiT

Just had an email that they will no longer be licensed after this quarter.
Any suggestions for new supplier that might offer pain-free transfer and pay a little quicker than they did!
Thanks

  • I also had an email from Co-op Energy today and they suggested I transfer my FIT to Octopus Energy, who apparently are now supplying their energy. The problem is I changed energy supplier to Outfox the Market a couple of years ago, leaving my FIT with Co-op and when I phoned Octopus they will only take my FIT on if I transfer my energy supply to them. I guess it's time to compare energy prices, but only go with one that's a Mandatory FIT company.

As I posted elsewhere, I wonder what the FiT rules say about a provider breaching/breaking the contract with you.  Are they required to provide a new supplier, or are they allowed to leave you to fend for yourself?
Also, if a new provider will only take your custom if you take gas and leccy from them, won't this force people to switch to them and then move again at the earliest opportunity leaving the FiT with them?

According to the  Solar energy - Feed-in Tariff payment delays - your experiences?  thread, eOn are said to be particularly quick.   I'm with Scottish Power for FITs (left them as supplier many years ago !) an they tend to pay in 2-3 weeks.

eOn are indeed very fast payers but I think you need to have them as supplier too to get them to supply FiT.

Aren't the 'Big 6' obliged to take on anyone for FIT purposes ?  I'm sure https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/profile/E.ON_Company_Representative:_Malc  will be able to comment

EricMears, I think you are correct.  I did a bit of googling and found this. https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/system/files/docs/2016/05/fits_guidance_for_licensed_electricity_suppliers_v8.1_0.pdf
2.12 et seq explains the obligations of mandatory FIT licensees, e.g. the Big 6
    "Mandatory FIT Licensee
2.12. A Mandatory FIT Licensee is obligated, when approached, to register and make FIT payments to:
    - Its own electricity supply customers
    - An electricity supply customer of a Licensed Electricity Supplier who is not a Mandatory FIT Licensee 
    - A generator with an Eligible Installation on a site situated off grid.

2.13. Notwithstanding its obligation, a Mandatory FIT Licensee is free to register and make FIT payments to any eligible generator it chooses to offer FIT services to."

Did some more googling and found an updated version of the above at https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications-and-updates/feed-tariffs-guidance-licensed-electricity-suppliers-version-11 which seems to be the latest version.  2,12 is now 2.11 but says the same thing...B)
  • Thanks All,
Didn't there used to be a helpful rep from EON hanging around here?
Has anyone done a transfer and if so were there any problems?
