Our house had been extended over an inspection cover years before we bought it, as have many other similar houses in the area, some now have internal inspection covers that are designed to match the flooring like the picture below, however the previous owners of our home didn't want to have one so had to build the extension at a higher level and raise the level of the existing kitchen and if access is ever needed we have to bare the costs of our kitchen/utility floor being dug up and the costs of putting it right again. We would have preferred the inspection cover however we are prepared to pay the costs if ever necessary and would then have the internal cover added if possible to prevent any future problems. We do still have a rodding hole outside though.
