Adding teenager to 2 car cover

We have 2 cars in our household, big saloon (what I drive) and small fiesta (wife drives). I am the owner of both cars and my wife is the named driver on both cars. We would like to add our 17 year old daughter to the cover. Can anyone recommend the best way forward? Would it be worth putting the car in my wife's name, getting her own cover and adding our daughter on her insurance?

I doubt it will make much difference whether your daughter is added to your insurance or a new policy in your wife's name. The advantage of your wife having her own policy is that she can start to accrue NCD herself. In my experience, adding a teenage learner to our insurance wasn't that expensive. I think it added about £80 to the £200ish annual premium. The premium rockets when they pass. Ours went up around £500.1
