£95 gone already! £60 spent at the market - and we've just heard it's closing down altogether sometime later in the year, which is very sad news - and £35 at the butchers, on a huge joint of beef and a dozen extra eggs. I probably shouldn't fret too much as I'm still feeding my mother and the small hordes of guests passing through to visit her, and she's off back to her own home on 3rd, but I could do without thinking I've spent a quarter of my budget before March has even really started!
(Just realised it's actually a 5-week month for us. Sigh... but I'm going to stick to it & try my best!)Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8 -
I know this isn't a GC Q - but can anyone tell me how to set up the emails saying there's a new post on this thread? I've looked at all the Help and FAQs but can't see how.
ETA: I think I found it - under profile somehow!9 -
I too didn't realise that Mysupermarket was closing. I used it a lot and did click through to have a couple of deliveries a month.
Did my usual sort of meal plan for the month a couple of days ago. All I do is list 32 lunches, dinners and puddings based around what is in the freezer and cupboards knowing that at some stage I'll have to go and shop for the peripherals like fresh veg and fruit. I don't put a date or day against any of my list, I just choose one from each list the night before, highlight it, and check I have everything needed. So tomorrow it's tinned soup and rolls, plus fruit or biscuits for lunch. Dinner is yellow sticker haggis, mash and swede, pudding is jelly with frozen berries/currents from last years crop. Not very exciting but I have everything so no shopping.10 -

PipneyJane said:Count me in @elsiepac. £120 as usual, plus whatever we have left over from February. That’s for two adults. My month will start on 1st March.
Thanks.

@elsiepac, please change my target for March to £126.30. Turns out that we had £6.30 left from February, which I blew on an unplanned stop in MrT’s this afternoon, when buying a late lunch. However, we’d already taken out the March GC money, so I’ll count it as a March spend. We spent £7.90 and got a £2 coin in our change, which will go in the Running Away Fund money-box, so we’re at £9.90/£126.30 with £118.40 remaining for the rest of the month.
