The valuer/surveyor normally liaises with the estate agent, you shouldn't be involved in this bit.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3

Hi
I went to view the property I'm buying again.
I spotted 3 small Man holes in the garden....they are in a line.
I want to extend the kitchen....does this mean I can't? How do i find out if the man holes belongs to the house or council?
Any advice?
So now I'm thinking what have I done!!
Agggh.....feeling deflated

The manhole covers I think will show up in the searches by the solicitors. Possibly on the title deeds.
@Doozergirl can you offer any advice?Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -

This house buying is a rollercoaster of emotions!!!
Hubby lot more positive saying there is a solution to all...also saying the man holes are small so better than being large enough for someone to go down.
I'm not too sure anymore lol1 -
You’d need a build over agreement with the water board. These are often prohibitively expensive and a lot of hassle to get. If you do get one, depending on the type of manhole you will be required to maintain access to it. Some of our customers have floor designs with a hatch in it for access. Not ideal but not insurmountable. Knowing our local water board I probably wouldn’t bother with the hassle but I’m sure it’s not the same everywhere!0
