Advice please on Jeep Grand Cherokee LPG 2001 4.7L

Hi Everyone... I am a bit naive on what to do about my grand cherokee which did not pass mot a couple of years ago. I am in a kind of dilema, between fixing my current Peugeot 407, 2007, that already electrics are bad and also not locking, it looks like it will turn to be as expensive if I fix my gran cherokee, not considering that recently I spend on it already a couple of hundreds  fixing stuff and now is shaking the car telling that pollution system is faulty. I wont be able to embark on getting another car which is small and good for running costs.
I know this jeep is expensive to run but it is more secure for me and nicer as well and I already have it, the expenses I need to do, probably is about 400 plus I will need to service for the LPG  system. it had a little leak which never was found, but it actually never caused problems; had news part on it as well. tax about 300, insurance is the same.
if I sell my Cherokee I do not get more than £600 or so and with the state of my current car probably it is not worth much  plus I do not know how to sell it. I tried once with grand cherokee but got a lot of scam and a couple of buyers failing to come to my property, so got a bit scared.
Would it be too crazy to fix my cherokee to use it now? I commute at the moment only for school runs for my girl and potentially could use less. I like my cherookee is in nice condition as well.
Thank you so much guys for your comments.

Safe in a 2001 Grand Cherokee?  Did you not see the crash tests of that vehicle?
One of the worst they tested in that year along with the Ford Explorer (i think).
Compare it to a Rover I had in the early 1980's that was designed for the 30mph crash test
not to have the door opening deform at all. Doors had to open and close as normal with the
30mph head on test.  Cherokee could not do that 20 years later.

If you like it then fix it. Just remember a car that costs £600 to buy may require far more than
that when servicing. Its part and parcel of owning an older car. Repairs can cost more than
its worth and will not increase its value.

Scams when selling a £600 car?

Thanks for that... I needed to hear the negatives of doing so.
yes I put the cherokee for sale and had people calling offering more and asking for address right away to buy it and was asked to to take it from the lists as they were going to buy it as it is, eventually I agreed with two and gave my address and they did not turn up at all.
