Getting Nowhere with Lloyds TSB PPI Claim through Resolver

I claimed for PPI on a loan I had with TSB on 6th August (before the closing deadline). I am using Resolver with MSE I have successfully received one payment for a loan from HFC paid through HSBC. I was expecting a lot of problems with this as HFC do not exist anymore but came through within a month! However, the TSB loan taken out in 1990 to 1996, I am getting nowhere. I did not receive an acknowledgement of the claim until October 2019 when I had made many phone calls and they sent me a copy of a letter which they said was sent in August 2019. This letter asked for all the details I had previously given them in the original claim. Since then I have made regular phone calls including a complaint as they keep saying they cannot find a loan in their Lloyds system. I keep telling them it was TSB. Every phone call results in the same thing they make notes of what I am saying and pass it on to the review section. I'm just going round in circles they can't even confirm my account. Should I take it to the Ombudsman or is there anything else I should do? I would be grateful of any help or advice on how to progress forward.

I’d contact TSB to see if they have a record of your loan and if that’s a dead end then yes, take it to the ombudsman.1

Lloyds have liability for TSB sales. The systems were integrated. Today, its just known as Lloyds. As TSB is now a different company, they could well just be avoiding the use of the word TSB.
You could ask them to clarify that they know you are referring to an exTSB loan and have checked the TSB side of things. Ultimately, if they can find no record and you cannot find a record to supply them, then it is game over. The FOS cannot find things that no longer exist. All they will do is ask Lloyds to check again and will go by their reply.3
