Can anyone tell me if you can appeal against charges from the finance company and if so has anyone been successful.....being charged for a lots of stuff that I thought would be wear and tear.

Have you checked the BVRLA fair wear and tear guide?1

As above, check the guidelines - often what people think and what finance companies think are wear and tear varies massively!0

If you don;t think you've gone beyond the guidelines as laid out by the BVRLA then you need to follow the formal complaints procedure and then involve the FOS.0
